What the GBA are doing
The Glenkens Business Association was formed by a group of like-minded people to promote and support businesses within the Glenkens.
Our first project was to put together a “Directory of Businesses” from Carsphairn to Crossmichael and Corsock to Laurieston. The idea behind this is to let local people know about local businesses, instead of calling in people from outside. The Directory includes the business name, address, phone number, email and web site address (if they have one). This first directory is available, and may be picked up any outlet that normally distributes the Glenkens Gazette.
Our second project was the production of the acclaimed "Visit the Glenkens Brochure" together with small wallet sized cards promoting the Glenkens. A unique telephone number has been established for the Glenkens that has given extra business to local Accommodation Providers.
Our third project has been the creation of this web site, which in the short time it has been Live, has provided extra business to a variety of different business categories. This Web site also contains an online version of the Directory that will be kept updated with any amendments and additions that people may wish to make before the publication of the next Directory, which will be next year (early 2008).
Our fourth project, currently underway, is to produce a Business and Marketing plan for the Glenkens to enable the GBA to obtain funding to further promote the whole area and the Businesses within it.
Our fifth project, about to be started, is to produce a new printed Glenkens Business Directory.
Members are encouraged to access this site regularly for updates and other interesting information.
